OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

With every drum crafted and purchased, we donate a portion of the sale to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Myra and Tomas Muro.

Founder Sam Muro's older sister, Myra, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2011. She battled her cancer for four years, trying many different treatments, until Doctors determined the cancer had advanced so much that there were no further viable options. Myra passed away on April 5th, 2015.

Tomas Muro, Sam's father, was quietly diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2014 and decided not to reveal the severity of his illness to his family until the passing of his daughter. Tomas passed away on June 3rd, 2016.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been an organization close to the Muro family's heart since Myra's diagnosis in 2011. The family has helped raise support, donated, and participated in Light the Night Walk held each year by LLS.

We strive to deliver the best quality snare drums: for sound, aesthetic and build. Each drum is made with the utmost attention to detail-- all by hand, one at a time.

But the mission behind Muro Drums goes beyond quality craftsmanship.

When you purchase a Muro snare, you're also supporting cancer research, honoring the memory of those who have passed and joining the fight for survivors.

MEET THE MAKER

MEET THE MAKER

Sam Muro, the founding craftsman behind Muro Drums, has been playing drums since the age of 13. A self-proclaimed "gear nerd" and fearless autodidact, he taught himself to refurbish drums after becoming dissatisfied with the finish of his first set.

He began freelancing, working on friends' drums and repairing used sets for profit. His work led him to a position as lead craftsman at an established custom drum company that used pre-made drum shells, but he knew he'd someday take his craftsmanship a step further.

With nearly a decade of refurbishing, crafting and customizing drums under his belt, Sam took up woodturning in Boston. Under the mentorship of renowned Harvard instructor Alan Hark, he mastered the traditional techniques he needed to begin turning his own handcrafted drum shells.

With the creative know-how and a desire to honor his late sister and father, Sam founded Muro Drums in 2017. Combining his love for his family, music, and woodworking has been a dream come true.
